BBC Share My Story Event

BBC Share Our Story at Pensby High School

On Friday 14th October 2022, Pensby High School were lucky to be joined by a team from the BBC Share Your Story Tour which is celebrating 100 years of the BBC.

Presenter Robyn Richford, who works for BBC Radio 1, brought David North, a presenter and producer from BBC Radio Merseyside and Natasha Todd, a BBC audience intelligence analysis, to share their stories with our pupils. The messages they left us thinking about were: ‘Believe in yourself’, ‘Follow your passion’ and ‘Never let anyone dull your sparkle’.

All pupils in years 7-10 wrote a story for their English homework about a time when they had shown resilience or had faced a challenge. The English department chose stories from their classes to be read when the BBC came to Pensby, then Mrs Foster and Mrs Davies chose the finalists who would share their stories with their year group and the BBC.

Some of out pupils bravely shared their stories on the stage; others had theirs read aloud by the presenters. Proud doesn’t cover it: to be able to share a personal story with staff, peers and outsiders is so brave.  We have been lucky to hear these stories.
