Uniform Information

Uniform is important, it is the first daily step in managing expectations and behaviour, it also serves as a way to create a common identity and culture within the school community.  However, more than anything else it is a daily lived example of how we feel about our school.  Wearing a uniform well shows how we feel about our school, the pride we take in school and that is important, because the pride we feel in our school comes not from outcomes, but from each individual person within it and the way we support each other by doing things well.

Students should wear full school uniform to and from school and for all school trips and parent’s evenings, unless otherwise informed.Uniforms may be purchased at any supplier of your choice though we have listed some suppliers for you. Ties can also be purchased from school for £4.50.

All uniform must be clearly marked with the owner’s name, including outdoor coats, which must be proper outdoor coats with no logos and NOT hooded sweatshirts.  Hoodies must not be worn under blazers.

Our uniform is not gender neutral, however, we are happy for any student to make a choice as to which uniform they wear, as long as this is a long-term view.

Coats

A coat should be worn as appropriate.  Short ‘fashion’ type coats, denim jackets, tracksuit tops (with or without hoods), jogging style tops with or without logos and leather/suede coats are not appropriate.  Expensive coats should not be worn to school, the school is not responsible for coats no matter how expensive they are.  If lost the school will not replace them.  Top coats are normally carried round in bags. We do not have cloakroom provision.

Statutory guidance on cost

All items can be bought from generic suppliers except the blazer, tie and PE shirt/shorts which can be bought from a range of stockists listed below. Whilst there are additional items which can be purchased these are optional.

Uniform

White Shirt – long or short sleeved, to be tucked into skirt/trousers with top button fastened

Tie – worn to the collar and long enough to reach the waistband

Black Blazer – with embroidered logo, to be worn at all times

Black V Neck Sweater (optional) – plain, no logos or names

Black smart business trousers (not skinny)

Black Knee Length Skirt – box pleat or pencil (not stretch)

Black Dress Shoes – no trainers, Converse, canvas shoes or obviously branded items.  These are proper shoes, shoes you can polish and the school not the manufacture decides on the nature of a shoe.

No Hoodies or Hats allowed

What other equipment will my child need?

School Bags

Each student will need a strong, suitably sized, waterproof bag to carry books to and from school.  This should be clearly named. These bags should be strong enough to ensure that the contents are not damaged.  Large bags are a nuisance and could be a danger when students are moving around school.   All students will need the following equipment: scientific calculator, black pens, pencils, a ruler, a rubber, coloured pencils, compass, and protractor at all times. All belongings, including clothing, should be clearly marked with your child’s name.

If your child attends school in what we deem as inappropriate uniform or shoes, then we will provide an alternative and students will change into them.  This includes, shoes, skirts, trousers, blouse or shirt.  Students will not be allowed to travel across the school site if they are in inappropriate uniform.
